What can be done when you're out on the road, stuck at the office, or tied up shopping with your family and THE game is on at home? Not much, unless you remembered to set the DVR to nail the pregame and start in on the recording the action. Well, no more will anyone be "stranded" without control of their DVR. DirecTV now offers a slick service, known as the DVR Scheduler, that allows users to program recordings from any computer or mobile phone at anytime, for free.

Here is a good alternative to the buddy system. If you love to hike, camp, or hunt by yourself here is some peace of mind for you and your loved ones. The SPOT satellite messenger allows you to communicate with the folks back home no matter where you might be. Because it works using 100% satellite technology, SPOT will work in places where cell phone wont. It also works anywhere in the world not just in a limited coverage area. SPOT allows you to check in at regular intervals, request non-emergency assistance and of course you to call for help if you do get in an emergency situation. The great thing about SPOT is not only that it can call for help but it can pin point your location for the rescue party should your situation become dire.

The Mac tablet has arrived. After a long wait and several delays Axiotron has released ModBook, the first Mac tablet. The ModBook, just as its name implies, is an off-the-shelf MacBook that has been converted into a small, high end, tablet computer. Intended to attract artists, students and professional mobile users, the ModBook is the perfect solution for situations where a keyboard would just be in the way. The ModBook utilizes the handwriting recognition already built into OS X Tiger. It also allows for gesture recognition which for those of you that have used Palm OS knows you can send commands at the flick of a stylus.

I think we all saw it coming like a train wreck but some of us just didnt want to believe they would actually do it. AOL announced yesterday they are ending support for the Netscape web browser. This came as no surprise to anyone who keeps up with the ways of the web. However, it marks the end of an era for all of us who remember our first Internet experience.

Riddell is taking player safety to a new level with its new HITS system. HITS stands for Head Impact Telemetry System and allows for recording and storage of 100 impacts within the helment. The HITS system allows offloading via wireless transmission to a laptop equipped with a HITS receiver for later analysis of impact data. The helmets are priced at $999 and the receivers are $299. The helmets could help identify impacts that have potentially caused concussions. This could prevent players from being injured further by detecting impacts as they happen. HITS could be an invaluable tool for trainers and players to study and analyze head impacts and help prevent injury.

Everyone at some time or the other has needed a file on their home computer when they were at work or vice versa. Sure you could use FTP or e-mail them back and forth. Or you could purchase an appliance that offered remote file access or maybe even subscribe to Go to my PC. All of these are viable options but here is a new one that works really well and best of all its free. It may be hard to believe that Microsoft would give anything away for free but for now you can sign up for an account at www.foldershare.com absolutely free and sync files between two or more computers anywhere in the world.
